Really large size, accurate to measurements. Weighs a bit but it’s exactly what you want. Really cute and looks nice in your kitchen. Looks like it will last a long time. Grinding is easily done with this item. You can grind things finally, or just smash an avocado or garlic if you need to. It does many things!

Sturdy, hard stone and easy to clean. Use it from grinding ingredients for salsa to seeds and nuts. Not as porous as a mochahete stone bowl.

The media could not be loaded. So, I got this Maxam Granite Mortar and Pestle, and I gotta say, it's pretty sweet. First off, it comes nicely packaged, and there are even a couple of recipes on the box - love that extra touch. Now, here's the deal: when you first get it, you gotta do a bit of prep work, like grinding white rice and making this paste with spices. It takes a little time, but it's worth it.Once you get past that, though, this thing is awesome. It's not too big or small - just the right size for grinding up whatever you need. Plus, it's heavy, so it stays put while you're working. Some folks mentioned a slight granite smell at first, but nothing major.Now, I've used it for spices, rice, and even breaking up dog treats for my pup, and it's been a champ. And let me tell you, it's super easy to clean, too. Overall, I'd say it's a solid buy, especially for the price. If you're in the market for a mortar and pestle, give this one a shot!

At the end of the gardening season, I have a lot of dried herbs, and this has been fantastic for that. There is a bit of a process to "clean" the mortar and pestle to begin with, but the instructions are pretty clear on how to do it, so I did not have any problems. It does exactly what you expect it to. Very glad I purchased this.Fair warning, it's made of granite, it's not light, so if you're looking for something easy to carry around, maybe try something made of light material.

I give it 5 stars b/c maybe it's not for crushing up prescription drugs that my husband can't swallow at this time. It's rough granite on the inside and I was expecting smooth. I feel like a lot of crushed drugs is being missed by staying on the surface of the bowl. =(
