My kids love playing with the Hot Dots. Great value and great alternative to screen time. Works well and is self explanatory for preschoolers.

I was given this kit to use and review. My students always love to use hot dots pens so that caught their attention first. Since many of my younger students are not great readers these were an activity we did together. There were two books and a total of 85+ questions that dealt with time, money, fractions, addition, etc. I see these books as a good way to practice skills that have already been taught in a longer lesson. It could also be used for introducing a concept.

This book and electronic pen set is PERFECT for car rides or anytime you want your child to be entertained AND educated without worrying about "accidental" writing on walls or seats etc. The workbooks are age/grade specific and sturdy ( kid proof )Love the series.....bought for several age ranges ( k-2 ) Even the neighbor 4th grader wanted her own book during carpool!

My child absolutely loves this. He's in second grade and gets bored with homework easily. When his homework one night was to review counting money and telling time, we pulled out his "hot dots" for the first time. I found the pages that had counting money and then the ones for practice in telling time. After demonstrating to him how this works, I left the rest up to him. I had to actually take it and put it away at bedtime. He did not want to stop. This makes learning so much fun. He said, "mom, I really like that. When you told me we were about to do that, I was like "oh brother!"😟 I didn't want to do it. But I really like it mom. It's fun. A lot more fun than I thought it would be." So as a mom that insist on my child always doing his homework, and wanting him to learn and not dread having to study things; this is the best. He even ask me, "mom, where are my "hot dots"?" He wants to do this. I'm absolutely ecstatic about this. I would definitely recommend "Hot Dots".

I purchased for a Christmas gift and the box was damaged when arrived. I put batteries in the pen and it only tell you the answer. False advertisement. It will not read to you and the lights green or red dont work. Not worth the money. If you return the item you will be charged fees.

I really wanted to like this toy but I don't really. It's okay I guess. Neither one of my kids are interested in it at all. I got it for my 2nd grader. Some are super simple. Some problems are long word problems that she has not done in school yet and although she can read, she is not great at it yet and still struggles with some words. I have to sit with her and read the problems out to her. Also it jumps all around with the types of math problems, so you cant just focus on certain types without searching to find each one. I feel like it would be nicer to have them sorted, like all the telling time together, counting money together, etc.
