I owed a coffee shop for close to three years and 6 days a week the day usually ended with cleaning up after people, ordering stock ... and the most tedious of all, counting up and reconciling with the till. OMG what a bind. Wind forward four years and some shops are now card only, which is entirely understandable, and if you've been in a situation where you regularly/daily have to cash up you know why.So, there is clearly a big place for a fast, easy and accurate counting machine. This is probably it. Accurate is vital because if you can't trust it then what's the point? This is accurate as far as I can tell after testing five times with different combos.I do have a mild grump about price. With the software included it seems Ok, but the same offer today (Aug 2018) is available for around £50 cheaper if you shop around. If the price drops to around the £280 mark here then I'd go Amazon, otherwise you can get the same thing and save money too.It does everything and covers everything a small business needs. Update the software when you first crank it up and away you go. It handles the latest coins and notes and multiple currencies (should you need it). The display and keys are logical and intuitive to me. Packaging is good. Instructions are basic but obvious and all you need. Build quality should be entirely adequate. This is an item to store safely under the till out of the way, so damage is unlikely.It will count coins, banknotes, coin rolls/bags, banknote bundles/clips/sleeves, payment card values, cheque values. It counts different notes together which is kinda witchcraft IMO. It's actually a joy to use and it lets you out the door 15 minutes earlier and without wondering if you actually counted everything accurately. This is worth paying for.So this is a well recommended hardware and software bundle that works seamlessly together, and saves you time and heartbreak. I'd give 5***** if it was priced a tad more competitively here. Do shop around. You get added value with Amazon, next day delivery and customer service of course, but £50 is £50 ... do the calculation and make your decision.

We've got this Safescan 6185 for counting cash in our cafe business at the end of each day, and it's turning out to be an incredibly useful thing. Gone are the days of painstakingly counting out notes and coins, then repeating the exercise (sometimes more than once) to ensure that the count is correct.The scale itself is surprisingly small; before using, we updated the software so we knew that the scales would handle the newish polymer bank notes. This was a case of downloading updates from the Safescan website, and then connecting the scale to our laptop by the USB socket on the back of the scale. The update was fine, and then we were ready to go.Weighing itself is simple -- simply place each variety of note into the little stand on top of the scales (or coins into the supplied small basket) and the machine gives a digital readout of the value of the notes or coins present. Having manually checked this the first two days we've used this, it's very accurate -- which I think is amazing, especially when counting notes.The added bonus here is that this is a bundle including the Safescan PC software (which I know normally retails separately for over £50 + VAT at the time of writing this review). It's worth checking before you buy, as I know from my own research that it is possible to find the scale cheaper, but this won't include the software. If you connect the scale to your Windows PC by USB cable, a record of the money counted is written into the Safescan software, so there's then no need to write everything down, etc. It's really useful.Whilst this isn't going to revolutionise our business, it is saving valuable time at the end of the working day when we are tired and just want to get home, and is reducing the stress inherent in counting our takings but getting different answers time and time again. It's easy to use, accurate, and, with the software update mentioned above, handles the latest banknotes. Definitely five stars, and thoroughly recommended.

This is a really helpful piece of kit for small business owners who have to count a lot of cash at the end of each working day. It comes with software to download and make sure that it can handle the latest polymer notes. And it really is very accurate. The price tag might seem hefty, but if you are saving time on a manual and boring task each day then the value of the machine will become clear over time. Easy to use and a great boost for a small customer facing business

This device counts money by weight. We found it to be very accurate.After the initial learning period, this scale was easy to use and it saved us a considerable amount of time.Bear in mind you still need to group your money into piles of the same denomination, so a small amount of manual sorting is still required.

Overjoyed with this. I've been watching bank cashiers use them for years. The simplicity is incredible. Stick a pile of £20 notes on it, select the £20 weight option and it tells you how much is there. And it's always right! Brilliant. Does coins too.

Counts even down to last penny! With my work getting paid in lots of cash, this makes it easier when it comes down to accounting. Brilliant.

This is an impressive machine/software setup. It is intuitive and easy to set up and use and precise! which of course is essential. It will save time not only on the counting, but also registering the different types of coins, notes, cheques etc.The equipment itself is reasonably sized and made of strong durable materials and we expect it to last long. The display is logic to read and the buttons clearly marked.The price on Amazon is too high though
