ALTRA Women's Escalante 3 Road Running Shoe

These are my third pair of Escalantes. I have had the 2.0 the 2.5 and now these. The will absolutely agree they are more blue than black. All my other ones are definitely black. And the laces should be longer. That said I hated the 2.5 because they got holes so easily in the fabric. I had to stick them after the first week. So far these are fairing better. They do have more cushion than previous editions. That said zero drop and minimalistic shoes are two different things. Escalantes have never been what I would consider minimalistic like Merrill's. Drop is the slope. I need zero drop because a back injury and these are doing great! I actually like the extra cushion. So far very happy with them.

Ultras are great minimalist shoes. If you’re looking for a zero drop shoe with a wide toe box this one is for you! If you need more cushion check out the Hokas. I’ve been running in Ultras for years they are great shoes.

Wanted to try the wide toe box shoe. They are comfortable, but I didn’t love running in them. Fairly flat shoe and my Achilles tends to get a bit angry if I try and run. I do wear them as a casual shoe and like them.

I wanted to try out a sneaker with a wider toe box but couldn't find a style I wanted.. until I found this! It was actually suggested by @paleomg on Instagram. They are comfortable and have lots of toe room. I like them so much I think I will get other colors!

I love Altras for everyday walking and working, but they aren’t black and I wanted black. It’s odd that they would even put that they’re black. Otherwise they’re very comfortable and I love them.

I've suffered through many pair of walking shoes and for people with hammertoe(s) and bunions this one is the best!! Also ezcellent stability.

I prefer the Racers, but this was a great deal with colors I love. The first shipment included a defective shoe, but the return and replacement went smoothly. As a result, I’m happy.

These are extremely comfortable. Great for wide feet and bunions. I am able to walk several miles with no discomfort.

I have 2 pairs of escalante 3 in white and black from previous season. The orange is my 3rd pair. I use it for work which requires quite a bit of walking about. Feet isn't sore after a day of 10k or more steps from work. I also use it for gym work.Wished there was a waterproof version of escalante 3 so they don't get wet during rainy days and my toes are cold.

These shoes have met my expectations for a minimalist runner. The lacing is different from the trail shoes which was a bit disappointing but still ok.

Love the knit upper material. Very comfortable shoes.
