Star Trek: Discovery Seasons 1-3 [DVD] [2021]

I loved series 1, 2, and 3 - gutted it went to Pluto TV from Season 4 - but always promised myself I would buy the complete series. With this Box Set, I was not disappointed with all the added extras: Extended Episodes, Deleted Scenes, and Cast Interviews. An absolute bargain at the present price, though I know certain stores out there charge up to £100+ for just the 3 Seasons.Have binge-watched all 3 Seasons and they have not disappointed me. Recommended for any avid Star Trek Fan to add to their collection.

This got slated on season one, and it was surprising that they got a second season. Seems to have gotten better each season.Worth a watch

Overall a decent series that is, for the most part, improving as the season go on.

After 15 months I revisited (binged) s1-3 and reined-in previous irritating triggers (of which there are still many) and found this a very engaging and honest attempt to integrate storylines from all of the previous franchises. You would need to have watched all of them to get most of the references.I originally wrote "Dreadful (Amazon made me chose a 1* rating but it is a zero). I tried so hard not to join the haters, but I agree with everything they say. I am devastated.Season 3 was slightly better than 1 & 2 possibly because the dreadful Michael character is toned down ever so slightly.Maybe she listened to the salvageable Terran Georgiou character when she said: "God Michael! Know when to shut the hell up!"Terran Phillipa's quote on first meeting Book when he said she was not Detmer or Tilly also pleases me: "I'd rather kill myself".The Christopher Pike spin off could be promising. Oh, and Admiral Cornwall was 'good Star Trek', but of course she got killed off, presumably because she wasn't crying, hugging and giving long soliloquies all the time.... Oh and appeared to be 'straight'."

I love Star Trek as a whole, and I especially love Star Trek Discovery. When in 2021 it was pulled from Netflix just days before season 4 I was gutted and furious. Looked at ways of signing up to Paramount plus in the US, and just too risky (if they discover you using a VPN you will be barred). Anyway, this product whilst it is only seasons 1 - 3, there is so much more than you would get with netflix et al. Features and extras and all that good stuff. The picture and sound quality is superb. Nicely presented

Star Trek discovery is it good TV show I should’ve never been taken off platform but I’m glad it’s back on Paramount+ but you could’ve been easier if it was on a different thing at the DVDs helped me through the time when I needed it

I must admit that this show was better than I expected, I saw the first episode several years ago. Originally, I didn't care for the new Klingon characters, and the ship reminded me of a pizza cutter. Then after the 1st episode, the only way you could continue was to subscribe to Paramount - yeah no! Years later, I saw that seasons 1-3 were on DVD, and the price was right, so I got the set, I'm glad I did, there are some hokey bits like the sounds and the way the ship spins after "Black Alert" - (very silly in IMO, could have done better with another phasing effect). Also, be prepared for quite a bit of character build-up and LGBTQ additions & personal affairs (why do we need all that?). Otherwise, if all that works for you, it is rather good, and I got season 4 as a follow-up.

Wie immer ist die Ware umgehend und sicher versandt angekommen.Im Vorfeld war mir nicht wirklich klar, was ich hier bekommen würde, worum es im speziellen geht (ich war schon ein Nerd, lange bevor es modern wurde - natürlich kenne ich mich mit Star Wars aus... :'-D, Trek(kie) natürlich) oder was mich hier wirklich erwartet. Ein neuer Captain der NCC 1701, ein anderes Schiff (nein, mir war selbst die Bedeutung des Titels nicht bekannt), neue Personen oder Rassen? Aber es war eine komplette Sammlung der ersten 3 Staffeln und es gab mächtig Wind wegen der Fortsetzung, zudem wollte ich schon immer mal reinschauen...Also war ich bereits ziemlich gespannt, lange bevor ich die erste Blu Ray in den Player schob. (4k Fernseher und Player von Sony, Soundbar, etc.) Noch nicht einmal darauf, worum es eigentlich geht, sondern ob sich der Kauf gelohnt hat. Und, oh boy, das hat es! Ich hasse Spoiler, daher werde ich nichts über den konkreten Inhalt verraten, aber soviel sei gesagt:- Bild- und Tonqualität sind hervorragend- es gibt ziemlich viele Hintergrund-Informationen im Bonus-Content und zudem entfallene, bzw. erweiterte Szenen- der Aufbau der Serie ist erfrischend anders; mir gefällt zwar die reguläre Form der '1Folge (oder max 2) = 1 abgeschlossene Einheit'. Dies ist hier aber etwas anders gehalten, es geht um die fortlaufende Entwicklung der Story und Charaktere. Ich kenne keine Star Trek Serie, in der diese Charakter Entwicklung so intensiv und zugleich positiv fesselnd vorangetrieben wird!!!Mehr kann ich nicht verraten ohne zu spoilern, was ich nicht werde. Zufrieden? Mehr als das! Kritik? An diesem Kauf sicher nicht! (leider dann doch, siehe Edit unten!!) Wünsche? Das auch die nächsten, hoffentlich viele, Staffeln ebenso in Sets a' 3 erhältlich sind!Mein Fazit - Absolut hervorragend, sehr positiv überrascht, gute Story (etwas abgedreht aber innerhalb der Serie schlüssig und erfrischend anders), klasse Schauspieler! Jedem Fan von allem, was mit Star anfängt, kann ich dieses Produkt nur ans Herz legen!!!Warnung!! Ich habe die Rezension abgegeben, als ich noch mitten in Staffel 2 war. Leider musste ich danach feststellen, dass, wie bereits von anderen angemerkt, die Staffel 3 nur auf Englisch und Französisch ist! Zudem gibt es, im Gegensatz zu den ersten beiden Staffeln, keine Extras! Das ist leider sehr schade und lässt die 3. Staffel unfertig wirken, als ob keine Zeit geblieben ist sie komplett fertig zu stellen... Normalerweise würde ich hierfür einen Stern abziehen. Da ich meine Filme persönlich jedoch eh auf englisch schaue, würde ich nun nur einen halben Stern abziehen. Die Qualität der Sprache, Sound, Bild ist genauso qualitativ hochwertig wie die anderen Staffeln. Zudem sind wie zuvor auch wenigstens entfallene Szenen vorhanden. Allerdings gibt es bekannterweise keine halben Sterne, daher belasse ich die Bewertung bei 5 Sternen und ein wenig grummeln...

I don't know why, but I received 3 separate Blu-ray boxes instead of the box pictured in the product image. I would have liked the actual box to hold them all together, as that's part of the reason for buying a box set. I'm hoping I'm not missing out on anything, so now I have to go and investigate whether that is the case or not, because it very well may be.I love the series, so no judgement there, but I technically didn't get what I ordered, and if it turns out I'm missing out on some content, I'll have to send it back.
