No, it’s designed for photography accessories and boom stands for music, if that is your use, are attached via screw on.

I'm not exactly sure regarding weight, but I use mine to hold a 2' x 2' LED light array that weighs around 10lbs. It holds that up with no trouble whatsoever and is very stable as well. I hope this helps.
