Star Wars Crochet (Crochet Kits) Hardcover – May 12, 2015

Overall, I am impressed by the quality of this kit. The kit includes enough yarn to finish two Star Wars projects, specifically one each of Yoda and a Stormtrooper, and after that you will need to purchase additional yarn, fiberfill, safety eyes, and other assorted items to finish more of the characters. The kit does not say exactly what size the yarn is but it seems to be at most a worsted weight 4 and it appears to be acrylic and/or wool rather than cotton. It does state that the models shown in the book were made with either weight 4 or 3 but doesn't detail which is which.The colors of yarn included are: white, black, pale green, beige, and brown. Also included is a tapestry needle for seaming the figures and adding features with yarn, an inexpensive crochet hook in size 3.50 (US E/4), four plastic safety eyes and fiberfill. There are also fairly detailed instructions including many diagrams. Unfortunately, there are no directions included for how to place the safety eyes. I am sure that this information can be found on the internet with a simple search. The directions do tell you exactly where to place the eyes. I must admit that I won't be using these eyes but will instead find ones that I can purchase so all of my figures will be consistent. Either that or I will embroider eyes on using basic satin stitches.While the yarn in this kit is very nice, I will be using my own stash to be sure that the sizes, colors, look, and feel of my characters are consistent. The instructions are detailed but I don't think that this is a project for most beginners. It uses techniques that crocheters with a bit more experience would feel comfortable with. If you are a beginner, just be sure you have access to someone or a website that can give you answers if you have any questions about the instructions.The book includes instructions for 12 Star Wars figures: Yoda, Stormtrooper, C-3PO, Princess Leia, Wicket the Ewok, Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and Jabba the Hutt. In addition to the patterns, there are many pictures of scenes of the characters from the actual movies - really fun for any Star Wars fan to have included.The hook is okay but I prefer to use my own for ergonomic reasons. The characters look to be fairly small - if you want to make them larger, use thicker yarn and larger hooks. The instructions should work well no matter the size. The tapestry needle is decent and works well for its purpose.I have purchased and crocheted other kits from this company (the Peanuts and Classic Disney) as well as one distributed by another company but which looks exactly like this brand with a slightly different box (Disney Winnie the Pooh). The instructions in the kits are all very similar as are the materials. I have been very impressed with the previous kits and believe this one will be just as good.On the whole, I really like the kit and the instructions and recommend it to an intermediate or above crocheter without hesitation.

I adore this kit, I've been waiting for it to come out since the author announced it last summer. I had been eyeing these patterns for forever and am so glad to finally get them (the author used to sell them directly if they seem familiar to you).The book I would consider for intermediate crocheters, this is not a learn to crochet kit. The amigurumi techniques in this book are more complex, the further you get into the book. It does statt with a few introductory pages reviewing stitched and technique, but I would reference these more for a review of stitch and technique then a how to. The pattens are clear and easy to follow.The price of the kit is worth it just for the book, and I the additional inclusion I see as just a bonus. As for the additional parts to the kit are a decent quality for the price. Included is a 3.5mm crochet hook, it's on par with any other brand's basic aluminum hook, I had no issues using it. The yarn included seems to be about sport weight acrylic, and is a decent quality, no splitting but it can get a bit fuzzy when working with it. There is more then enough yarn to finish the 2 projects. I completed yoda and I still have a bunch left over, possibly enough to make a 2nd. The safety eyes I'm not a huge fan of, the posts are large for the size compared to what I'm used to and are a pain, I had to fight just to work them through my project. The darning needle included is metal which was a pleasant surprise.

I have a few of these crochet kits Who ever sources the yarn for these kits needs to be fired. The yarns are different gauges and not always what the author used/recommends. The yarn for Yoda is very thin. Yarn for storm trooper has this weird starchy feeling that makes it hard to work with . The book is excellent. Very well written and would purchase something from this author again. I don’t want to give any blame to the author cause she wrote a great book with helpful easy to understand instructions but I have to review the kit it overall. Book 5 stars. But the publisher did a horrible job sourcing yarn.

I am new to crochet thanks to COVID-19. I purchased the Star Wars kits not really knowing much pattern. But the book has very good instructions and it came with everything you need to make the 2 characters. I chose to make Stormtrooper first. That was a wise decision because Yoda to me was much harder due to the robes and ears! I did it. They might not look perfect to you but to me they are. I love this kits. It brought me so much joy. If I am not sure I watch YouTube video to learn a quick pattern lesson. Buy it you will not disappoint!

I waited two days before writing my review to see how the kit really was before I made my statement. This is really nice, and it made me feel like a kid again (though I'm only 20.) I love the franchise and I love crocheting so this was a win-win. It is thinner yarn that your typical Red heart, and it feels pretty sturdy. The eyes were in great condition and are good quality. The book is smaller (in size) than I thought it was going to be, but I am actually happy that is the case; it gives me more room for yarn! The hook is like a basic Boye hook and the tapestry needle is about the size of an embroidery needle, so do be careful when you are around kids. Stuffing is very soft ( softer than typical Poly-Fil.) Patterns are great, the projects are adorable, and the pictures of the movies throughout the book are timeless. The yarn is not ready to-go right out of the box though. Unless you keep untangling it. I have a ball winder, but I used my hands anyway for this yarn since it is so fine and isn't a big skein. Not a reason to lower the rating for this product though. I would purchase this again and again if I could! Just pure awesome!

Gut nach zu arbeiten, gut Kenntnisse in häkeln und Englisch vorausgesetzt.Garn hat sogar für 2 Yodas gereicht ( für das Jäckchen habe ich Fremdwolle verwenden müssen) Yoda und R2D2 haben die perfekte Größe als Schlüssel-Anhänger bzw. Taschenbaumeler.

This is my very first Amigurumi project ever. I was able to make a cute baby Yoda, Stormtrooper, and Ewok! I have only made dishcloths and scarves in the past. The instructions are super easy to follow. The book has a lot of photos to refer to. It took me 1 full day to finish a figurine. Ewok's body (dark brown) from the left over yarn from yoda.

I have really enjoyed making up the figures in this book. You are provided with a generous amount of yarn to make the first 2 figures . You also get 2 sets of plastic eyes. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The instructions are American and I am English. You soon get used to the other terminology. I have made Yoda and wicket the ewok and a stormtrooper. They look really good. My grandson is delighted. You could make them all into cute keyrings. I am now making c3po.
