Shoreline Marine Galvanized Anchor Chain

I have a slip ring anchor that I use on an 18.5 foot boat. Using the rope directly to then anchor does not work well. The anchor pulls up, and does not catch well on the sea floor. This chain is heavy, and keeps the anchor down and digging for something solid. I bought he 5/16" which is one size heavier than the 1/4" that was recommended. I also bought a 3/8" shackle to link the chain to the ring on the anchor.Shoreline Marine seems to make better than average products.

One star off.. had to buy a ring at home depot to attach to anchor (which was slightly too big, so I had to drill out anchor a little), as there are no clips included.

Bought the four footer and it looks like a good chain. Doesn't come with shackles so be prepared to spend another ten bucks on those if you need them. I'll update after our next boat camping trip if there are any problems.

Yes, it's a chain. but there are a lot of junk chains out there. This is a good product. I will be using this one in a remote location in Alaska and expect many years of use.

It's just as advertised and described which is always nice and it's of good quality. I used the same one on the end of my anchor for a long time and it never showed any signs of wear.

So far so good in fresh water use

solid, heavy. Overkill for my canoe anchor, but better too much than not enough. Would be fine with decent anchor for 14-16 foot motor boat, or heavier rowing boat on gravel, sand, mud bottoms. On hard rock bottoms where no anchor will grab, you would need a lot more, since boat is held by weight alone of chain and anchor for the most part. However, unless you are a navy destroyer or bigger, with a kilometer of heavy chain, why anchor on a solid rock bottom?

I replaced a 25' chain with this. It works perfectly for my purposes.
